What to Expect

Every Second(ish) Sunday 10-1 at ADX in SE Portland

Think of it like a fitness class, but for DIY skills! Drop in for a single workshop, or join us every month to expand your skillset!

▶︎ Hands-On Experience

This is a place for curious minds and dirty hands. We’ll provide instruction for all abilities and skill levels. Workshops are limited to 12 participants so you get personalized instruction.

▶︎ Expert Facilitation

Led by Tess Ball, a professional handyman and licensed contractor. We hope to partner with other queer tradespeople soon!

▶︎ A Queer-Centered Space

Identifying as butch is optional, honoring queer and butch experience is essential.

Power Tools 101

You’ll get an overview of the most common power tools, when to use them, and some common tips and tricks. You’ll learn to make clean cuts with a circular saw, get comfortable around a sander, and walk away knowing what all of the different settings on your drill mean.

Tools and materials will be provided, but you’re encouraged to bring your own if you want to practice using what you have!

Mount It: How to attach (almost) anything to (almost) any wall

Which anchors are best for different applications? What’s the difference between drywall, plaster, brick, or concrete? And how do you find a stud when you need it???

Whether you want to hang a shelf up straight, mount a TV, or install a pull-up bar, you’ll come out of this workshop feeling confident in your skills.
